Bang Together

Developmental milestone: Babies who are 6-9 months old may bang objects together.

*Give your baby two wooden spoons or wooden blocks.

*Sing one of his favorite songs. As you sing, take his hands and show him how to hit the spoons or blocks to the beat of the song.

*This is very good for developing your baby’s eye-hand coordination and sense of rhythm.

Rock and Fall

Developmental milestone: Babies who are 6-9 months old may get up on all fours and rock.

*Get on all fours on the floor. Encourage your baby to copy you.

*Start rocking back and forth and say, ”Rocking, rocking, rocking, rocking, then I go boom!” and then fall flat on the floor.

*Get back up and repeat.

*As your baby copies you, he will strengthen his arm and leg muscles.

*Change what you do after you fall on the floor. Some ideas are to turn on your back and kick your legs in the air, turn from side to side, make an animal sound, say “Nighty night,” or scoot on your back across the floor.
